Dear Reader,
No Sunday notes this week.
Some things are too much to say and too much to hold.
At a Hannah Arendt conference at Dartmouth yesterday, I received the news that my beloved mentor and teacher, Jerome Kohn, has left the world.
None of my work on Arendt would exist without him. I couldn’t have written the biography without him. I translated her poems for him.
I will write something in due course when I’ve had time. There are so many stories. If Jerry’s life, work, or gift for storytelling has touched you in anyway, please reach out. I would love to hear from you.
May his memory be a blessing.
With love, sadness, and gratitude,
Sam
