Dear Reader,
Let’s get lost in the woods this summer with Thoreau and read Walden.
Over the course of four weeks we will read Walden; or, Life in the Woods together. What does it mean to retreat from society in order to live a deliberate life of attention set against the pressures of modern society? Thoreau retired to a cabin in the woods, far away enough from the noise, and close enough to the world, in order to think about those fundamental questions of life concerning solitude, economy, and how one ought to live. How might Thoreau’s work help us think about the noise of our world today? And might he help us find some peace inside it?
